Dr. Darion Lamon James is a native of North Carolina and a proud graduate of East Carolina University, where he obtained a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology. A fervent interest within the realm of academia led James to immediately obtain a teaching certificate from Elizabeth City State University.

Soon after, James relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where he spent the bulk of his career. While there, he served in various instructional capacities and positively influenced the lives of children and educators alike. Possessing an innate niche for educational governance, James sought after principal certification and obtained a Master of Science degree in Leadership in Educational Administration.

Dr. James functioned as a district facilitator of Fulton County Schools for various professional development sessions and concluded his tenure within the school district as a Behavior Intervention Specialist. He also served at the collegiate level as an adjunct professor at Clark Atlanta University, wherein his primary instructional focus addressed the needs and prerequisites of prospective urban educators.

His work with Federal mandates around IDEA regulations and racial/ethnic disparities regarding suspension and expulsion of students of color led to further inquiry within the scope of disproportionality. An ardor towards educational policy led James to Washington, D.C., where he quickly collared the role as an instructional coach. Although his career is deeply rooted within the realm of academia, his occupational focus is progressively broadening towards scholastic advocacy and holistic pedagogical practices.

James earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and is a published author of literature that identifies various instructional models and alternative approaches towards addressing the needs of all learners. He currently serves as a District of Columbia Public Schools LEA Representative, wherein his primary duties are to work collaboratively with personnel and building leaders to develop individualized programs based upon unique student needs.

Dr. James is the proud founder of Books Brothers, an educational platform for disadvantaged scholars that offers multidisciplinary instructional supports as well as wraparound services rooted in social emotional learning. While working collaboratively with a host of educational agencies, his future aspirations lie in the support of equity amongst all students and the continual investment of time and resources in educating youth.
